Annual NFL and Cars Survey Celebrates the Relationship Between NFL Fans and Car Enthusiasts
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Swapalease.com, a car lease marketplace, announced its fifth annual NFL and Cars survey, illustrating where drivers feel their favorite cars align with certain teams in the NFL.
This year’s online survey polled more than 550 football fans and car enthusiasts across the U.S. during the second week of August. Nearly a quarter (22%) think the car model “Vipers” would make the best NFL team name. Most fans believe there will be a repeat of last year’s Super Bowl, with Kansas City (21%) and Tampa Bay (21%) receiving the most votes for who will win this year’s ultimate prize – followed by Buffalo (7%).
Among the other key highlights of this year’s NFL and Cars survey:
- 33% of people think Aaron Rodgers will be playing for the Green Bay Packers next year; 23% think he will retire at the end of the season.
- 29% of people think the Washington Football Team is the best choice for their long-term team name; second-place was Commanders at 20%.
- Most people think the Los Angeles Chargers remind them of a Tesla Model S
- Most think the Cleveland Browns remind them of a rusty car
- Most think the Las Vegas Raiders remind them of a stolen car
- Most think the Dallas Cowboys remind them of a driverless car
- Most think the Miami Dolphins will most likely have a problem with Covid-19 illness
- 77% of people said they did not remember any of the car commercials from last year’s Super Bowl
- Less than 5% of people said they planned to stream an NFL game to their laptop
For years, football fans and car enthusiasts have been intertwined together. Sixty percent of survey respondents said they’re significant football fans, and 53% of survey takers said they are true car enthusiasts. Despite their records and recent success on the football field, most people said they are fans of the New York Giants (12%) or the New York Jets (7%).
“Football fans and car enthusiasts are both looking to enjoy their passions despite the ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic,” said Scot Hall, Executive Vice President of Swapalease.com. “We’re hoping this fall and winter that fans can safely fill football stadiums for a little return to normal, and we certainly look forward to learning about new vehicles and promotions that are a big part of football programming in the coming months.”
