Rear-View Cameras Cause Headaches Again

The 2025 Frontier and Kicks subcompact SUV crossover are affected by the software issue.
Another automotive brand recalled a large number of vehicles whose rear-view cameras could sometimes fail to display when in reverse gear.
Nissan recalled about 80,000 pickup trucks and SUVs that could have the flaw, which stems from a software error.
Ford just recalled more than a million vehicles due to a similar issue.
Nissan issued the recall for certain 2025 Frontier pickups and Kicks SUVs, estimating that 1% of the vehicle population has the flaw.
The affected units all have center information displays that can go blank when they’re in reverse, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The software flaw originates in the center information display, potentially causing an intermittent communication error with the infotainment module that results in a blank display screen.
Nissan dealers will update the vehicles’ center information display software. The Japanese automaker is scheduled to mail recall notices to owners on July 1.
