Automotive Service Pros Month Shifts to October

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, or ASE, will observe Automotive Service Professionals Month this June, though the observance will shift next year to October and April to coincide with fall and spring car care months.

The change is intended to better align the observance with national Car Care Month activities already taking place across the industry. In those months, dealerships and repair facilities host events focused on vehicle maintenance, safety awareness and consumer education.

By moving Automotive Service Professionals Month to coincide with the other established observances, ASE aims to strengthen visibility for automotive service professionals and expand public engagement with technicians.

“While we are still proud to recognize Automotive Service Professionals Month this June, moving ASPM to October and April allows us to more closely connect with Car Care Month activities already happening across the country,” said ASE President and CEO Dave Johnson. “Many of the repair facilities that employ ASE Certified professionals already participate in these seasonal events, so aligning ASPM with them creates a natural opportunity to highlight the skill, training and dedication of these technicians.”

Automotive service professionals play a vital role in communities, working in dealerships, repair shops and service centers to ensure vehicles remain safe, dependable and road ready. As automotive technology continues to evolve, the professionals are required to maintain and renew their ASE certification every five years, demonstrating ongoing expertise and familiarity with the latest systems and industry standards.

ASE helps consumers identify qualified professionals by certifying technicians who meet rigorous standards of expertise. Those who earn ASE Certification and display the Blue Seal of Excellence have proven both practical experience and the ability to pass demanding exams.

To stay certified, these professionals must renew their credentials every five years, demonstrating ongoing competence and familiarity with new technologies and industry best practices.
