Renault Korea has a facility that produces internal combustion engines and electric vehicles simulta..
Renault Korea has a facility that produces internal combustion engines and electric vehicles simultaneously in a single production line for the first time in Korea. It plans to start production of Polestar 4 electric vehicles at its Busan plant in the second half of this year and export them to the Americas.
Renault Korea announced on the 7th that it has completed the inspection of new facilities at its Busan plant to resume production of vehicles such as Grand Coleos, which will begin next week. In line with that, Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon also visited the Busan plant on the same day, toured new production facilities, and promised customized support for Renault Korea’s completion of the future car project.

Renault Korea signed an “MOU for Investment to Build Future Vehicle Production Base” with the Busan Metropolitan Government in March last year and announced plans to convert its Busan plant into a future vehicle production base. As part of this, we started reinforcing facilities at the Busan plant to mass-produce electric vehicles last month, and with this inspection, we converted the production line centered on internal combustion engines into a mixed production line capable of producing electric vehicles.
Renault Korea President Stefan De Blaise held talks with Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon during his visit to the plant. “We have successfully completed the construction of the facility so that the Busan plant, which boasts the world’s best production quality, can become a key hub for future car production, and the Busan Metropolitan Government has also promised customized support,” said Stephane De Blaise, president of the company, after the talks. “With this conversion of production lines and strengthening cooperation with the Busan Metropolitan Government, we will focus all of the company’s capabilities on the production of future cars such as Aurora 2, which will be unveiled next year along with Grand Coleos and Polestar 4.”

Mayor Park celebrated the launch of the Grand Colleos, which sold 22,000 units in four months of production as Renault Korea’s first global project, and reviewed measures to support the launch of the follow-up models Aurora 2 and Aurora 3 and the promotion of the Busan Eco Cluster, which is scheduled to be established at the end of this year.
Mayor Park said, “We welcome the conversion of Renault Korea, a key manufacturing company in Busan, to production lines and the establishment of a future car production base. The transition to production lines is an important opportunity to revitalize the local economy and create new growth engines for Busan, he said. “We will work closely with Renault Korea to establish Busan as a key hub city for global mobility.”
