2026 Toyota RAV4: A Trim Comparison

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 marks the beginning of a sixth generation, and the changes run deep. This is the most significant RAV4 update in years, with a bolder new design and one headline change that affects every single trim.

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 Trim Lineup

Big change for 2026: Toyota dropped the gas-only engine. Every RAV4 now runs on hybrid power. The 2026 RAV4 comes in seven trim levels organized into three design categories: Core (LE, XLE Premium, Limited), Rugged (Woodland), and Sport Design (SE, XSE, GR Sport). The Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and standalone Prime trims from previous years are gone, with the plug-in hybrid powertrain now folded into select Sport Design and Woodland trims. The RAV4 remains one of America’s best-selling vehicles — and now it’s even more efficient across the board.

LE

The LE is where the 2026 RAV4 lineup begins, starting at $31,900. It comes standard with the full hybrid powertrain — 226 hp in FWD, 236 hp in AWD — along with a new 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the complete Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 suite.

Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 includes pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam assist.

Remote keyless entry and automatic climate control also come standard. Front-wheel-drive LE models are estimated at 48 mpg city, 42 mpg highway, and 44 mpg combined — making the RAV4 the most fuel-efficient crossover in its class, hybrid or otherwise. AWD is available for $1,400.

SE

The SE, starting at $34,700, is a sportier take on the LE and falls in the Sport Design category. It adds front and rear parking sensors and brings larger wheels and distinct sport-themed interior and exterior accents. The SE is also available as a plug-in hybrid starting at $42,950, which raises output to 324 horsepower and offers an EPA-estimated 52 miles of all-electric range — a 10-mile improvement over the outgoing RAV4 Prime. The SE PHEV requires approximately four hours for a full Level 2 charge.

XLE Premium

The XLE Premium starts at $36,100 as part of the Core design category. It delivers up to 44 mpg combined and adds a power liftgate and larger wheels over the LE. An optional XLE Driver Assist Package for $375 adds front cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, traffic jam assist, a driver attention monitor, and safe exit alert. Wireless device charging and SofTex-trimmed seating are also available at this level.

Woodland

The RAV4 Woodland starts at $39,900 and features all-terrain tires, a tow hitch, and a trestle-style roof rack. It’s rated at 41 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 38 mpg combined — slightly lower due to the all-terrain tires, but still impressive for an off-road-capable SUV. AWD comes standard. The Woodland adds a multi-terrain monitor with selectable views for navigating more challenging conditions. A Woodland PHEV is also available, with DC fast-charging capability and 49 miles of electric range.

XSE

The XSE starts at $41,300 and builds on the SE with synthetic leather upholstery and 20-inch wheels. AWD is standard. The XSE gains a surround-view camera system and is available with advanced park assist for $420. The XSE is one of two PHEV trims to offer DC fast charging, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes under ideal conditions. The XSE PHEV offers an estimated 52 miles of all-electric range.

Limited

The RAV4 Limited tops the Core lineup at $43,300. AWD is standard. It gains a surround-view camera system and packs in the full luxury suite — ventilated and heated front seats, an 11-speaker audio system, ambient interior lighting, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and premium interior materials. The Limited is rated at 43 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 41 mpg combined with AWD.

GR Sport (PHEV)

Sitting at the very top of the 2026 RAV4 range at $49,950, the GR Sport is a plug-in hybrid with unique bodywork and a unique steering and suspension tune. It’s EPA-estimated at 48 miles of electric range, with 41 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined after the battery depletes. AWD is standard. This is the performance flagship of the RAV4 lineup — the equivalent of what the TRD Off-Road was for driving dynamics in previous generations, but now with electrified muscle to back it up.
