2023 Toyota Prius: A Trim Comparison
Previously, the Toyota Prius was the butt of every joke in the automotive world. Its underpowered performance paired with a hideous exterior made it less than desirable for automobile enthusiasts. But all that is changing with the all-new fully-redesigned 2023 Toyota Prius.
2023 Toyota Prius Trims
The 2023 Toyota Prius is available in three different trims. Engine options are the same for each one, but each trim tier offers more features than the last. Let’s take a closer look at what each one has to offer!
Powertrain Options
Before we get on to each trim level, we should talk about the powertrain options. The base powertrain is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor that generates a combined 194 horsepower. If you are looking for all-wheel-drive, you may want to upgrade to the optional powertrain that adds an additional electric motor and generates 196 horsepower.
Of the two options, the front-wheel drive version of course offers the best fuel economy, getting 57 mpg in the city and 56 mpg on the highway. However, the all-wheel drive version isn’t far behind, getting 53 mpg and 54 mpg.
LE
The LE is the base trim starting at $27,450. Standard features of this model are pretty typical of a Toyota. For one, you get an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and a six-speaker stereo. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth are all supported. Listen to music via satellite radio. You’ll even get a Wi-Fi hotspot and six USB ports!
While the Prius a decade ago never included these kinds of features, the new Prius comes loaded with driver assistance features. Holding very little back, Toyota gives you forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control, among many others.
XLE
The XLE starts at $30,895. It swaps out cloth upholstery seating for synthetic leather. The driver’s seat is swapped out for a power-adjustable version, and the steering wheel and two front seats are also heated. For your convenience, the XLE features standard wireless device charging, a push-button ignition and remote keyless entry. On top of all that, a universal garage door opener comes standard as well.
Extra driver assistance features, in addition to everything in the LE model, include parking sensors, reverse collision warning and reverse automatic emergency braking.
The XLE does offer some optional add-ons too. For one, there’s the digital key for another $275, allowing you to get in your vehicle using your smartphone. For $735, you can get an upgraded 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, and lastly a fixed-glass roof for another $1K.
Limited
The Limited trim, which starts at $34,465, includes the optional features mentioned previously, along with ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker JBL audio system, and a power liftgate.
For an additional $200, you can get a rear-camera mirror. Other options include heated rear seats for $350 and more parking assistance features for another $1,635.
