2021 Genesis G80: A Trim & Package Comparison

For 2021, the new Genesis has been redesigned with refined engines, new features and an impressive new interior. Luxury drivers can get all in a fairly decent price range. It’s perfect for families and for commuting to the office.

When contemplating your perfect vehicle, Genesis does things a little differently. They start with  what they call “trim models.” In actuality, these are engine and powertrain configurations. Then, the buyer adds “Packages” to give their Genesis a distinct “flavor.” These packages function similarly to trim levels as they are found on most other manufacturers.

Breaking Down the G80 Trims

Let’s break everything down for the solidly performing 2021 Genesis G80 mid-size luxury sedan. We’ve split things up by engine size, and detail the available choices applicable to each one.

Genesis G80 2.5T

The base engine for the 2021 Genesis G80 is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It’s capable of 300-hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Buyers who opt for rear-wheel-drive will see pricing start at $47,700.  The 2,5T models come in an array of different exterior colors. Most are an array of whites, grays, and blacks, though there is a deep blue color. You can opt for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive.

Standard features with the 2.5T are plentiful. Drivers will get a massive 14.5-inch display for their infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth, smartphone integration features, and three USB ports. Listen to satellite radio or HD radio on a 12-speaker audio system. You’ll also get dual-zone climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats and a hands-free power lift trunk.

Packages

The Genesis 2.5T offers two different packages to add on. The $4,600 Advanced package adds tri-zone climate control, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 21-speaker audio system and rear sunshades. Get it for $4,600. The Prestige package for $4,300 provides luxury features like genuine leather upholstery, a 21-speaker audio system, a surround-view parking camera system, remote control automated parking, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging and power soft-closing doors.

Genesis G80 3.5T

The 2021 Genesis G80 3.5T Sport starts at $59,100 for the rear-wheel-drive powertrain and $62,250 for the all-wheel-drive version. The main draw of this model is the performance-focused engine. It’s a 3.5L GDI twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. It does lower the fuel economy just a single mpg rating from the base option (23 city/32 highway, compared to 19/27).

The 3.5T comes with everything included in the Advanced package. Being the higher-level model, there is only one other package available: the Prestige. The Prestige package for this model includes everything that is optional for the 2.5T – as it is the exact same package.

Conclusion

When it comes down to features, you can fully equip your vehicle no matter which model you choose. It really comes down to your engine options. If you want a more powerful ride, you’ll want to select a 3.5T model, but if you ar more interested in the features, you can save more money by sticking with the 2.5T. On top of that, the 2.5T engine is going to save you on gas expenses, because it offers a superior fuel economy.
