While turkey is not popular for manufacturing cars, a Turkish company(TOGG) will be manufacturing its own vehicles, They will, of course, be electric.

on April 5, 2022, Turkey announced their first domestic, fully electric car, they also announced that the debut test runs on the track have been carried out.

Turkey’s Automobile Joint Venture Group (Togg), the consortium developing the car, said Wednesday, The 1.6-kilometer (1-mile) track was built at the production facility in the northwestern Bursa province’s Gemlik district.

the company will produce five different models — SUV, sedan, c-hatchback, b-SUV, and b-MPV — until 2030 and own their intellectual and industrial property rights.

The company plans to manufacture 175,000 cars annually, the new C-SUV four-wheel drive car will be launched, at a low price, with a full wattage powertrain.

The engine

The company announced that their cars will have powerful engines and the car price will be reasonable at the same time, This engine was completely developed by the TGG company engineers.

the electric car will also have two different horsepower options —- 200 hp and 400 hp, based on the engine type car will be able to do a 0-100 km/hour sprint in 7.6 seconds and 4.8 seconds, the two models will have the 300 and 500 km range capacity.

The car will also be connected to the internet and its system will run online updates, With one of the longest wheelbases of its type, it will maximize spaciousness and comfort.

Its Lithium-ion battery, which was developed by TOGG completely, can be charged up to 80% in less than 30 minutes, The car conforms to the standards of the European New Car Assessment Programme’s five-star rating system.

TOGG will also provide holographic assistant technology with three-dimensional display and augmented reality technologies, This technology will be used in Turkey’s automobiles for the first time in 2022.

TOGG’s electric vehicle platform, designed by TOGG engineers completely for all five models, will be original and patented. The platform will provide a structure for maximum efficiency, comfort, durability, and safety.

The indigenous car will also be supported by the government with tax discounts and incentives.

TOGG is turning cars into smart devices

The debut model will reach Turkish dealers during the first quarter of the next year, A midrange sedan with similar performance data and on the same platform is expected to be launched by the end of 2024.

At that point, an expansion into Germany or other Central European countries would be conceivable. There is not expected to be a special dealer network. Along with a pleasing design, brand and flagship stores are expected to attract customers.

It is already clear that the Turkish company sees its cars as mobile devices in an integrated system.

the car’s earnings are not expected to come solely from the sale and maintenance of consumers’ vehicles. At the heart of the strategy: tech-savvy target groups between 35 and 50 years old who are open to an entire ecosystem.

There are plans to make money on the data that the car and the user generate, Parcel deliveries to the car, and bank transactions from the vehicle the company is currently working with 30 startups that are trying out prototypes for future services.
