Missoula explores future of electric vehicles with community event

MISSOULA, Mont. – As technology advances, Missoula is considering the increased presence of electric vehicles (EVs) in the community. The Missoula Metropolitan Organization is hosting an open house to discuss the potential rise of EVs as a primary mode of transportation in the area.

Currently, only a small percentage of Missoula residents drive electric vehicles, despite their growing popularity nationwide. The upcoming event aims to gather public opinion on the matter.

Devin Filicicchia, a city electrification specialist, explained the purpose of the open house. “At the open house, people can kind of share their opinions on electric vehicles and specific locations around town. Really we’re just curious to hear about folks think about EVs and you know, if they’re thinking about infrastructure, how we can support it,” said Filicicchia.

The event is open to everyone, regardless of their stance on electric vehicles. Filicicchia emphasized the importance of diverse perspectives, saying, “You know regardless of if you’re someone who’s really excited about electric vehicles or isn’t quite so sure. I think we’re hoping to see everyone at the event. I think all opinions and perspectives are really important to have at this point of the engagement process.”

The open house will be held at the Missoula Public Library this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts on the future of electric vehicles in Missoula.
