2022 Genesis GV70 price undercuts other luxury crossover SUVs
The 2022 Genesis GV70 luxury crossover SUV will start at $42,045, including destination, when it arrives at dealers this summer, the automaker announced Tuesday.
The GV70 follows the 2021 GV80 flagship SUV as part of an impressive lineup of value-oriented luxury vehicles from Hyundai’s luxury brand. When equipped with all-wheel drive, the 2021 BMW X3, 2021 Audi Q5, and 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class are at least $2,300 more expensive, but the GV70 comes better equipped.
The fifth model in the Genesis lineup, the 2022 GV70 employs the same rear-wheel drive platform as the G70 compact sedan, but has a longer wheelbase and more headroom. It’s powered by a 300-hp 2.5-liter turbo-4 that makes 311 lb-ft of torque or an available 375-hp 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 making 391 lb-ft, same as what’s offered in the GV80 SUV. The GV80 is quick off the line but handles like a large SUV; the sportier, more compact GV70 should feel even quicker and handle lighter. An 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive come standard.

The GV70 shares many GV80 design cues and wears the same large mesh grille in the shape of a crest or shield. A shield grille up front stretches above skid plates and its mesh extends to the lower center and side intakes. A lower mesh insert at the rear recalls the design up front. It rides on 18-inch wheels.
The LED light signature appears the same as the rest of the lineup as well, bisected by twin horizontal lines that wrap around the front fender. The lines extend down the beltline to the rear, where the taillights pick up the illumination and wrap the rear above twin tailpipes. The GV70 has a pronounced integrated rear roof spoiler and a curious rear quarter window in the shape of a triangle.

Genesis says the open interior was inspired by aerodynamic sections of aircraft wings. From the images, the dash appears flat, broad, and uncluttered, with a large screen mounted high in the dash that seems too distant to be a touchscreen.
The 2.5T is offered in Standard, Select, Advanced, and Sport Prestige trims, and comes well equipped across the board. Synthetic leather cushions power front seats that are heated, dual-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, four USB ports, wireless smartphone charging, and a 14.5-inch touchscreen with navigation, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, adaptive cruise control down to a stop, parking sensors, automatic high beams and more. Most luxury makes bundle many of the safety features in packages that range from $995 to $2,000.
For $46,045, the 2.5T Select adds 19-inch alloy wheels, panoramic roof, cooled seats, power side mirrors, better front seats, and 16-speaker Lexicon sound.
The $50,195 2.5T Advanced adds leather seats, heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, a blind-spot camera, surround-view camera system, and rear automatic emergency braking.
The Sport Prestige model costs $53,795 and brings all the goodies, including synthetic leather trim panels, alloy pedals, digital key, limited hands-free driving system, and Ergo Motion seats that automatically adjust the driver’s seat to relieve pressure on longer trips.

The Sport Appearance upgrade included on Prestige comes with 21-inch alloy wheels, dark chrome trim elements, a different bumper and wheel design, as well as a sport steering wheel and carbon-fiber interior trim.
The 3.5T models add the larger engine and the in-car tech of the 2.5T Prestige. For $53,645 the 3.5T Standard combines the features from the 2.5T Select and adds the limited hands-free driving system and Ergo Motion seats.
The 3.5T Sport costs $58,645 and upgrades to nappa leather, a suede headliner, and the elements of the 2.5T Advanced.
At the top of the lineup in both features and performance is the 3.5T Sport Prestige at $63,545. An electronic limited-slip rear differential provides more spirited handling while the inside comfort upgrades with carbon fiber trim, heated second-row seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display.
Genesis also includes a 5-year/60,000-mile warranty with 3-year/36,000-mile complimentary scheduled service.
