SE
The 2021 Hyundai Kona SE is the base trim with a starting price of $20,500. With this model, you’ll get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 147 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The base engine offers less horsepower but makes up for it with better fuel economy estimates. It gets 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
As for features, you’ll get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, along with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, two USB ports and a six-speaker audio system. Driver assistance safety features include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, driver drowsiness monitoring and lane keep assist.
SEL
The SEL starts at $22,300. This model adds a proximity key for keyless entry, a push-button ignition, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and a sunroof. Additionally, the SEL includes HD radio and satellite radio, which you won’t get with the base model.
Blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert are features that are added to the SEL trim as well. These features alone make the SEL a worth upgrade and you’ll pay less than $2K more than the base model. So, combined with the entertainment features and luxury features, it’s definitely an upgrade you should consider.
SEL Plus
If you want the best, upgraded features, the SEL Plus is the model to get. It offers you Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system, an eight-speaker premium audio system, a power-adjustable driver’s seat and wireless device charging.
Night Edition
The Night Edition starts at $26,200 and is the all-new trim for 2021. The main difference between this trim and the others mentioned above are the unique styling elements and the upgraded engine. The 175-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
One thing this model lacks that the SEL and SEL Plus both come with is the sunroof. Additionally, it doesn’t have the wireless device charging offered with the SEL Plus. However, it does offer HD radio and satellite radio.
Limited
Want leather seats? The Limited, starting at $26,300 provides leather seating, automatic climate control and the sunroof not included with the Night Edition. It also has full LED lights.
Ultimate
Last but certainly not least is the Ultimate trim for $28,150. The Ultimate trim features an upgraded infotainment system with 8-inch display and navigation. A heads-up display is included as well. Safety features included with this trim, not included with lower level trims, are adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, and pedestrian detection.
